The Rutledge Board of Mayor and Aldermen held its first meeting in the community room at its new location at 8657 Rutledge Pike, Thursday, May 10. The board passed the first reading of the city's budget and opened bids for paving on Bryan Road, conditionally approving a bid from Willis Paving Inc. The approval of the original bid of $13,530, plus another approximately $500 for additional stone is dependent upon resubmission of the bid to include specific wording regarding building up the sides of the road. Following the reading of the bids, Alderman Jason Day said he didn't like that the bid submitted by Willis Paving didn't specifically state the road edges would be built up.
